Southern white admiral
Limenitis reducta
β
The Southern White Admiral, from the Nymphalidae family, has a wingspan of 45-50 mm. This butterfly occurs in southern and central Europe, including in the North of Portugal. It requires woodlands and forests edges (close to watercourses) as habitat, where ππ°π―πͺπ€π¦π³π’ plant species are also available as a food resource for the caterpillars. Moreover, habitat loss has been the main threat against π. π³π¦π₯πΆπ€π΅π’ across its distribution.
